Exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to work within a school-based setting near the Washington DC area, just 45 minutes south of the city. This contract position begins August 3, 2026, and continues through May 26, 2027, offering part-time hours with a flexible schedule to be determined. You’ll be supporting students across one or more schools, with caseload specifics and age groups finalized following an initial call with the district’s director.
Key Qualifications
- Active Virginia OT license required
- Experience providing occupational therapy in a school-based environment is preferred
- Ability to adapt and navigate undefined caseloads and schedules as district needs are confirmed
- Must promptly initiate the VA Department of Social Services background check process
- Completion of a VA-mandated Tuberculosis screening before start date
- Flexible, collaborative, and committed to supporting diverse student needs
Responsibilities
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students as assigned, in accordance with IEP guidelines and educational best practices
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized interventions to support student participation and access in the school environment
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to support each student’s educational goals
- Maintain timely and accurate service documentation and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Adjust interventions and service delivery as necessary based on evolving caseload information
